2015 Ram EcoDiesel, Toyota Tundra Comparison
Type the word “diesel” into any Tundra fan site or forum and you will immediately get comments declaring you a fool or suggesting if Toyota doesn’t offer the engine, they will never buy another Tundra pickup. The diesel topic has exploded over the past few years and helping fan the flames is the 2015 Ram EcoDiesel. As the only half-ton diesel on the market, rival truck fans have seemingly put the truck on a pedestal to use for/against their diesel argument. What makes it so polarizing? The engine. Is it really that much better? Let’s take a closer look.
Both of these trucks look great to us and we would be happy taking either home.
2015 Ram EcoDiesel Review/Comparison Update
Wanted to update everyone that we are currently editing a video and writing a review on the 2015 Ram EcoDiesel we just had. With travel coming up on Wednesday to the Chicago Auto Show, our hope is to have the article up today or tomorrow morning. If not, it will be next week.
2015 Ram EcoDiesel Arrives – Toyota Tundra Comparison Begins
The Ram EcoDiesel just got dropped off and I took some quick photos with my phone. It is an Outdoorsman trim level and with a crew cab. Listed price on the sticker is $50,790. It has the luxury group, comfort group, trailer tow and brake control group, 3.92 rear axle and the Uconnect system.
Toyota Expands TRD to Other Models – Smart Business Move
Toyota has announced it will expand its TRD brand to the Camry and possibly other models. This expansion is incredibly smart and gives Toyota a competitive marketing advantage. It also helps them reach a younger demographic all automakers are struggling with.
The TRD package has been a great offering for Toyota’s trucks. Now, they will build on it by leveraging the name on other vehicles. This is incredibly smart.
THQ Reader Input Needed
Tomorrow, Tim will take delivery of a Ram EcoDiesel for a few days of testing. He is evaluating it for his other outlets, background automotive knowledge and he is a juror and voting member for the Rocky Mountain Truck of the Year. The Ram EcoDiesel is up for the award.
This brings up a question. We have heard from a variety of THQ readers over the past year or so on the direction of the site. Some readers criticize THQ for losing focus and say we should report only on Tundra news. Others appreciate the insight and learning about what competitors are doing that could effect the Tundra.
