Tundra Wins Prestigious Residual Value Award
On the 17th of this month, the annual ALG Residual Value Awards were announced and it was a good day for Toyota (and Toyota owners). Not only did the company win the overall “Top Mainstream Brand” award, but six of their models were voted to be the best vehicles in their class in terms of resale value. One of those winners is the Tundra, awarded as the best “Fullsize Pickup” in terms of resale. Read more…
Toyota To Get Cummins Diesel?
First it was Ward’s Auto and AutoGuide that reported Toyota would be getting a Cummins motor, and now Car & Driver is saying the same:
Come 2016, the option list for the next-gen Tundra will include a Cummins 5.0-liter turbo diesel. That oil-burner is predicted to be rated at 300+ horsepower and, in true diesel form, more than 500 lb-ft of torque. This should make Nissan product planners sit up and mumble “rats,” as this appears to be the same engine being developed for the redesigned Titan, which debuts next year.
While there are still some reasons to wonder what Toyota is planning here (which I’ll get into below), odds are good the 2016 Tundra is a gettin’ a Cummins Diesel. Read more…
2015 F150 Wins Best Buy Award Before It’s Even Been Sold
KBB.com decided to give the 2015 F-150 – which only recently began actual production – a “Best Buy” award. Considering that:
- The truck isn’t available for sale yet, which means the only trucks KBB could have tested were pre-production units (which are often built by hand), and
- The EPA fuel economy figures haven’t been released yet, thus we have no idea how fuel efficient the truck really is

Toyota Tundra Driver Wins Back to Back NASCAR Truck Championships
For the first time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series history, a team captured back to back championship titles. The winning driver, Matt Crafton did it in the ThorSport Racing No.88 Menards Toyota Tundra. The win caps off an impressive season by Tundra drivers and makes the fifth NCWTS driver’s title for a Toyota Tundra driver. Toyota also won the manufacture’s title for the seventh time.

Nearly a year ago, Ram (aka Fiat Chrysler America) recalled 1.2 million trucks for a tie rod failure issue. The concern was that tie-rods were misaligned either in manufacture or during a service, and that this misalignment could lead to a loss of steering control. Read more…
