Toyota to Out Export Big 3

Facing a tough yen and a weak dollar, Toyota has announced plans on becoming the top exporter of vehicles manufactured in North America. The new plan means Toyota will out export the so called big 3; General Motors, Ford and Chrysler.

Toyota to out export Big 3

Toyota plans on ramping up its exports from North American and further challenge the Big 3.

Currently, Toyota produces less than four percent of the total number of cars in the United States that are exported to countries outside of North America. Rather most of Toyota’s manufacturing in the United States is destined for the domestic market.

Toyota, like many American manufacturers, is hoping to take advantage of the relatively weak U.S. dollar, which makes American goods cheaper in foreign markets. In addition, the value of the Yen has increased significantly in recent months, which makes exports out of Japan, where Toyota is headquartered, more expensive.

Further driving this plan is Toyota’s weak sales numbers which have gotten off track since the March tsunami. Although Toyota overtook General Motors as the largest automaker in the world in 2008, that tsunami and the resurgence of General Motors after its resurrection from bankruptcy means that General Motors is likely to regain the top ranking in 2011 once the final numbers are reported.

Toyota currently exports several of its most popular models from the United States, including its Tundra pickup truck, Sienna and the Camry. However the number of exports from its six North American plants should increase considerable in coming years if their plans come to fruition.

Well Jason Toyota ought to do this and make what they can. No difference than any other manufacturers trying to compete in foreign markets.

good for toyota. If they can export more American made vehicles to other countries, the better off the USA will be for job security and help improve the USA economy. So sick of everything made in China or 3rd world countries bought here in the USA that for once would like to see the tide changed the other way around. All mfgs. are exporting jobs overseas and they should be exporting their American made products overseas, not jobs. You see it day after day USA plants closing and sending the jobs overseas for cheaper labor, makes me sick.

i would say , This is just the beginning of a new era of North America being a source of supply to many other parts of the world.
this will not only improve the local market but job status too.

    yes !
Currently, Toyota is exporting to 19 countries outside the NAFTA zone.
Most of those countries are in the Middle East, South America and Asia.

Although its current export volume is small, Toyota is looking to aggressively increase that amount.
hope to see best toyota vehicles all around the glob.
