Another Way To Mount Your Spare Tire – The TireGate

One of the primary differences between modern pickup trucks and true off-road rigs is the location of the spare tire. Most pickups, the Tundra included, stow the spare underneath the cargo bed at the back, tucked up to the bottom of the truck box. While this might seem to be a logical location to keep the tire, as it maximizes the amount of cargo space available, there are some situations where it is far from practical.

We visited Stevinson Toyota East last night in Aurora, CO (just outside Denver) and managed to test drive their Made In The USA Toyota Tundra. It’s a 2008 Tundra Regular Cab 2wd SR5 with the sport package, and the 5.7L V8 (of course). It also includes TundraRacing.com’s 2″ lowering kit, a complete set of carriage works grilles, a custom exhaust, and custom American flag vinyl work.

Featured Tundra – Bill’s Red Rig

Bill sent us an email telling us about his 08′ Tundra CrewMax X-SP 5.7L V8 , and when he told us about all the equipment, we had to have some pictures. In addition to his regular driving, Bill uses his truck for light-offroading in order to get to the best kayaking places. We like it because it’s a sharp ride, and a testament to just how nice you can make your truck without breaking the bank.

Notice how level this truck is? It’s got a ToyTec 3″ front-end lift 1″ rear-end lift with a differential drop kit.

Adding a carbon fiber dash kit is a great way to customize your truck without spending a fortune.

The Ironman Ivan Stewart – A Toyota Truck Racing Legend

For off-road race fanatics, Ironman holds a meaning far beyond Stan Lee (creator of the Ironman comic) and Robert Downey, Jr (who portrayed the comic book hero). You could say the nickname was given to Ivan Stewart, whose career is the stuff of legend; but, more accurately, Stewart laid claim to it fair and square.
