A 2007 Toyota Tundra made an appearance at the 2012 State Fair of Texas Auto Show. The 2007 Tundra isn’t that exciting by itself until you consider the odometer reads 666,803 miles. Holy cow!

2007 Toyota Tundra with 666,803 Miles on It

This 2007 Toyota Tundra with 666,803 miles on it still looks in good shape considering it gets driven around 200,000 miles per year!

The Examiner.com reports seeing this truck at a special exhibit booth inside the fair. The 2007 Toyota Tundra TRD full-size pickup looks to be in really good condition with “one small fender dent, a slightly damaged tailgate edge.” Not bad for that kind of mileage.  The story goes that the truck is still in fact in service and the plan is to continue using it to reach 1 million miles.

The truck is part of Toyota’s marketing efforts to show how tough the Tundra is. I think they proved their point with this truck.

The 2007 Tundra is owned by Victor Sheppard of Houma, La. He says he drives it every day and travels over 200,000 miles per year as part of a courier business.

“I never worry about my Tundra getting me to my next pick up or delivery,” Sheppard told Examiner.com. “I may worry about a flat tire, but never about my Tundra making the trip.”

Sheppard also states that the truck has not had any major repairs or replacements. He says that he simply followed the recommended maintenance schedule and that has allowed his truck to amass the miles without major problems.

Toyota found out about the truck when Sheppard contacted them to see if they might be interested in it to show other people how tough Toyota Tundra trucks are. Of course, Toyota was happy to hear about this truck and designed the exhibit booth with Sheppard’s truck in mind.

The truck will be on display through the end of the fair. Then, Sheppard will get in and keep driving. He is hoping to bring it back to the fair when it reaches 1 million miles. Some quick math says that will be the 2015 State Fair. Good luck Sheppard and here is hoping we will see you then!

Thats awesome to know that a well maintained truck will last. The funny thing is that people buy new trucks sell them once they have 100 000 miles on them because they are considered finished. I bought my 2008 cremax with 100 000 miles on it and I am just starting.

Man put me to shame with only 143,298 miles on it. Really alittle too much road time for me.

  3. mk says:

    200k per year, wow!

Anything over 35K per year I would be impressed.

I’m sure 90% of that is hwy. miles that doesn’t do too much damage to the engine going 65 mph most of the time.

This is another example of “Overbuilt”!
I’d like to see this truck used for a Tundra commercial.
This gives new meaning to “longest lasting truck on the road”!

  5. Jeff says:

That’s a testament to how well built the 2nd gen Tundra is. Mine is just broken in with 52,000 miles…..

  6. Graham says:

Wow… it looks brand new (apart from the small dent on the front right side). Proof that these beasts can stand the test of time!!

  7. Hey brother in law thought you were kidding i had 298,306 on my Ford Taurus was just trying to make it too 300,000 man you put me too shame. Had my car not been stolen I would have been running too catch you good luck…Impressive man

I am so glad I found this. I just bought a 2007 Tundra two months ago that has been well taken care of with less than 70,000 miles on it. I have been told by people (that don’t own one) that it was not a good truck. This makes me happy. We were updating our family vehicle from a 97 Lexus ES300 that has 290,000 miles and still going. I love this truck.

    • Shayla,

      Glad you enjoy it!

They lie. I’ve got an 08 Tundra just hit 71k in it and no problems with it. Just normal maintenance every 5,000 miles and new set of tires at 46k. These trucks will run forever. Can’t say that for the other manufacturers. I’ve driven them all, and the Toyota has by far outlasted them all except my 1989 Mazda B2600i 4×4, and my 1989 Nissan D21 4×4, both had 320k+ miles on them and were still going hard when I sold them.
