Toyota and Lexus Top 2016 Consumer Reports Reliability Survey

With nearly a half million responses from everyday owners, creating good statistical probability, Toyota and Lexus once again top the 2016 Consumer Reports Reliability Survey with the most reliable vehicles on the market. However, this isn’t to say all their vehicles are reliable with the head-scratcher of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma now being considered as having average reliability.

Consumer Reports Reliability Rankings – Fiat-Chrysler Can’t Catch A Break

Admittedly, I’m not a Chrysler fan. The worst vehicle I ever owned was a Dodge Dakota, and that single vehicle turned me from a Dodge fan to a giant critic of the Chrysler product…but it isn’t really my personal experience with a Dodge Dakota that’s made me a Chrysler critic.

I’m a believer in facts and hard data, and the hard data on Chrysler (now Fiat-Chrylser) reliability has been consistently bad. Yesterday, Consumer Reports came out with their rankings and guess what: the Chrysler family (Ram, Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, and Fiat) did very poorly.

About 70% of F150 Owners Uncertain About EcoBoost Reliability

Last week, I wrote a quick post about the EcoBoost’s quality perception problem with Ford owners titled “EcoBoost Losing Steam with Ford Loyalists.” I talked about some EcoBoost forum comments left by (presumably) Ford truck owners that were less than positive, and concluded that Ford might have a perception problem with their EcoBoost engine family among their loyal customers.

I was (rightly) called out by one of our frequent commenters for that article, as it wasn’t heavy on data. While it wasn’t as if the conclusion I offered was relying exclusively upon comments on some forum (it wasn’t), it certainly did seem that way. SO, I invested $100 in a Google Survey and asked 200 self-identified F150 owners the following question: Do You Think The Ford EcoBoost V6 Is A Reliable Engine?

In what may be surprising to some (but not me), 70% of Ford F150 owners answered either “No” or “Maybe, I’m Not Sure.”

We asked F150 owners if they believe the EcoBoost is a reliable engine. Here’s what they said (click the image for the full survey results).

Press Fleet Ram Catches Fire – Worker Sabotage To Blame?

Dallas Morning News contributor Terry Box had a pretty exciting vehicle review recently. He was driving a brand new Longhorn Edition Ram 1500, when other motorists started to waive and gesture at him frantically. The problem? His brand new press fleet Ram was burning.

By the time he got pulled over and out of the truck, the vehicle was quickly engulfed. See the story here.

The question is, was this “a one-in-a-billion situation” as described by Ram CEO Fred Diaz, or is this problem a result of reported worker sabotage at Ram’s Warren Truck Assembly Plant?

2012 Ram 1500 Undeniably The Least Reliable Half-Ton Truck On The Road

What I’m about to say might sound like biased drivel, but I can prove it. Here goes:

> IF YOU’VE BOUGHT A 2012 RAM 1500, YOU’VE BOUGHT THE LEAST RELIABLE HALF TON ON THE ROAD

I know a few of you are hitting the “back” button on your browser right now, but hear me out. The two major quality and reliability authorities have found that Ram trucks have the worst quality and reliability ratings. There’s simply no logical justification for buying a truck made by Chrysler-Fiat (unless you work for the company and have to buy one) – at least if you’re concerned about reliability.
