UPDATE: There has been a lot of media outlets lately (like this Autonews story) talking about what Bill Fay, Toyota Division General Manager, comments on expanding production of the Tundra and moving production of the Tacoma. Lost in the frantic news and reviews of the 2014 Tundra is a most interesting tidbit. It seems Toyota’s Chief Engineer Mike Sweers alluded to Toyota building more Tundra pickups and different variations of it are coming soon. Say what?
According to Chief Engineer Mike Sweers, pre-orders of the 2014 have been really strong prompting discussion of moving the Tacoma production and building more variations of the truck.

Toyota Tundra 3D Model Concepts
I found a fairly wide collection of 3D Toyota Tundra models on Google’s Sketchup website. For those that don’t know (which included me up until a few days ago), Sketchup is a free 3D modeling program provided to the public by Google (is there anything they don’t do?).

Is Toyota Already Selling The H.D. Tundra?
Toyota Tundra fans have been waiting on pins and needles for an “H.D. Tundra”, or heavy-duty Tundra, ever since Toyota announced they were working on a 3/4 ton Tundra back in 2005. Originally promised to follow soon after the light-duty Tundra (the current model), our sources are now saying that Toyota won’t be introducing an HD Tundra anytime soon…if at all.
That’s right – it’s far from certain that Toyota will ever produce a 3/4 or 1 ton Tundra. As of July 2008, we felt the HD Tundra was at least five years away. Today, we’re wondering if Toyota is ever going to produce a 3/4 or 1 ton Tundra. Perhaps the market for H.D. trucks is going to shrink so much that Toyota’s current light-duty truck is “heavy duty enough.”
In other words, what if Toyota is already producing the H.D. Tundra?
