US Top Gear Host Drives A Tundra

Rutledge Wood, host of the History channel’s Top Gear USA television show, is a proud Tundra owner. According to TruckTrend.com, Rutledge rates his Tundra pretty highly:

“[The Tundra CrewMax is] a great truck; it’s plenty big enough,” he says. “We have two kids, so I definitely have to have something that holds the whole family…Rutledge used to rate the [Tundra} a 10, but that’s changed now that he has his eyes on the new Ford Raptor. The Tundra now gets an 8. “The Raptor is just the most insane truck I’ve ever seen,” he says. “I really want one. I have to talk my wife into it, though. There’s never been a truck from the factory that’s been really good off-road.”

How’s that for a celebrity endorsement? Aside from the Raptor – which is definitely a cool pickup – Wood says the Tundra is a perfect 10.

If you don’t know much about Wood or don’t care what he drives, consider this:

Ford F150 Fires – Funny Video

While it’s undoubtedly poor taste to make light of a safety issue, the following parody video about Ford F-150 cruise control fires made me laugh a little bit.

If you’re a Ford fan, know this: Ford had a problem with cruise control modules spontaneously catching fire, but they fixed it. You’re probably OK.

New Ford Eco-Boost V6 Needs Sales Boost?

Die-hard Ford fans and industry observers alike (myself included) have been quick to give Ford credit for creating the Eco-Boost V6. What’s not to love about a fuel-efficient twin-turbo V6 with torque and horsepower figures that are comparable to a V8?

Indeed, Ford’s Eco-Boost has been considered the “next evolution” of truck engines because it’s becoming harder and harder for V8 engines to satisfy new fuel economy and emissions rules. Ford was very smart to bring the Eco-Boost to market, as they are ahead of the curve in terms of efficiency.

Ford Eco-Boost V6 Cash Back

Ford has begun discounting their most advanced truck engine - why?

HOWEVER, many people (including myself) wondered if the Eco-Boost would be accepted by consumers. Considering today’s news that Ford is offering an extra $500 cash back on certain F150s with the EcoBoost engine, it sounds like consumers aren’t quite ready to jump on the twin-turbo V6 band wagon. At least not in their trucks.

The question: Is this about the EcoBoost, or is this about truck buyers?
