As part of Toyota’s Racing Dream Build Challenge NHRA Alcohol Funny Car race driver Alexis DeJoria wanted a “no holds barred” Baja race truck. In order to build this machine, she enlisted her team at Racer Engineering to seriously modify a Toyota Tundra. Let’s just say they were very, very successful. This truck is sweet!
Alexis DeJoria’s Pre-Runner Tundra concept has lots of modifications. The “off-road magicians” at Racer Engineering worked with her in the California high desert city of San Jacinto to develop this off-road beast. It will make an appearance at on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 through Friday, November 2, 2012 at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas, NV.
According to ToyotaRacingDreamBuild.com, it has:
- 5.7 L Toyota V-8 with TRD Supercharger
- Long-travel suspension (20 inches in the rear)
- Elaborate custom roll cage wrapped in leather
- JBL audio system
- NRG racing seats
- Custom Hooker 7-point harnesses
- Specially-built fuel cell
- Fox suspension coilovers
Racer Engineering specially fabricated several pieces including:
- Front arms – suspension
- Rear arms – suspension
- Front bumper/brush guard
- Fabricated rear end
The front and rear fenders are made of fiberglass and the bed has the dual spare tire carrier (as you can see from the photos). The graphics were provided by 111 ink.

Looks good. She’ll have fun in that. Hopefully do very well too.
Alexis is the only female NHRA driver that owns her own team. Having the support of Patron Tequila and The SW Group have helped Alexis continue to live her dream of competing at the highest level and help drive her appetite for success as a professional drag racer.
toyota thundra is the only choice of Alexis. To trick it out, she’s enlisted the help of off-road magicians, Racer Engineering in the California high desert city of San Jacinto to develop a no-holds-barred Baja pre-runner. From the custom ultra-tough suspension and bodywork to a high-zoot interior, this might be the Tundra of your dreams, too. For a truck with the heart of a dragster but the spirit of the open road, follow this build as it climbs the mountain to the top of the competition.
From fighter jets to street machines, Alexis has always wanted to go fast and live life to its fullest, but it was when she first saw a Nitro Funny Car in action that she realized where she wanted to be. Born with a drive to succeed, Alexis knew she had to pursue drag racing and began her career with a plan to develop her driving skills in the sportsman categories and continually move up the ranks in more powerful machines.
Looks great, I loved that color scheme on the American LeMans Patron cars.
