Spyder Industries Offers Unique Headache Racks for the Tundra

There’s no doubt you have seen a ‘headache rack’ installed on someone else’s truck at least once in your life. These racks, which are mounted across front edge of a pickup bed and which create a lattice of steel bars that overlays a truck’s rear window, are found in many different shapes and sizes, and feature a wide variety of designs.

While some headache racks might look purely ornamental, appearances can be deceiving. These grilles are so named due to their ability to protect window glass as well as anyone inside a truck from having a nasty one-on-one encounter with any cargo that might be loose in their truck bed, whether as the result of a sudden stop, a broken strap, or an accident. While this kind of ‘headache’ is definitely a bit more serious than the term would suggest, many truck owners install these racks as a purely decorative accessory. This has lead to the aftermarket coming up with some very creative headache rack designs.

Spyder Industries offers some of the most impressively varied headache rack options currently available. The company’s flagship product is the Black Widow headache rack, which looks like nothing else on the market thanks to its unique inner and out frame design and steel spider web lattice framing either side. The center of the rack remains open in order to facilitate the use of your truck’s sliding rear window, and the effect of the spider web look really sets this rack apart from the competition.

Spyder provides a network of dealerships across the country, as well as direct phone sales, but the most interesting option for ordering a Spyder rack is to use the company’s online Build-A-Rack feature. For those who aren’t interested in going ‘full spider’ it is possible to order several other different rack styles that range from simple double-frames to fully-customized options outfitted with horizontal gratings, window louvers or the Black Widow-style inserts. You can also add accessories to your rack using the online tool, such as load control horns, several different light mounting options, and eye hooks to help with cargo tie-down. The racks come painted matte black by default, but Spyder also provides the option to have their products finished in whatever custom color you desire.

Spyder Industries headache racks are available for every major truck manufacturer, and offer you a great way to not only set your rig apart with some of the wildest and most original designs around, but also add a practical and protective rack to your current cargo management system.
