City, County of Toyota Truck Plant Don’t Own Toyota Trucks
In the d’oh moment of the week category, we have the city of San Antonio,Texas and Bexar County, Texas who have hundreds of full-size trucks in their fleet, but none of them are Toyotas. Why is this odd? This area is home to Toyota Tundra and Tacoma production plant.
The San Antonio, Texas Toyota Manufacturing Plant is a large driver in the local economy employing about 2,300 people. Seems from this picture, the plant is a large piece of the economy.
Toyota Tundra Helping Michigan Food Bank
In these troubling times, many needy families are having a hard time simply feeding their children. Once again, the Toyota family is taking the opportunity to show its commitment to those in need.
As part of Toyota's "100 Cars For Good" program, a Tundra was given to a Michigan food bank.
JD Power Rates 2011 Tundra Quality 2nd Behind F-150
Last week JD Power released their 2011 Initial Quality Survey results, naming the Ford F-150 the top quality large pickup. The Tundra, which has been at or near the top of JD Power quality studies since the 2000 model year, came in second in the same survey. Chevy’s Avalanche came in third.
While the F-150’s quality rating was top notch, the overall quality rating of the Ford brand did not fare as well. JD Power ranked the quality of the entire Ford brand about 8% worse than the industry average. As we reported a couple of weeks ago, Ford’s overall quality rating fell mostly because of problems with Ford’s in-car electronics system, MyFordTouch.
