Pure Performance 4.5″ Triple Threat System

Pure Performance builds off-road suspension systems for a wide range of different applications, including the Toyota Tundra. One of the most interesting products offered to Tundra owners by the company is its 4.5” Triple Threat System, a comprehensive suspension lift kit that is aimed at hardcore all-terrain driving enthusiasts.
According to Pure Performance, “Triple Threat” refers to the suspension kit’s ability to not only improve the ride of the Tundra but also serve as a rugged trail and sand dune platform. Essentially, the Triple Threat System is designed to dramatically improve the off-road abilities of the Toyota Tundra without compromising precision or comfort when driving to and from the trail.
What’s In the Box
There is no question that the kit is all-inclusive. Unlike more simple lift kits, the Pure Performance setup comes with two new laser-cut alloy steel A arms that are three inches wider than stock and which have been specifically designed to maximize ground clearance. They also feature integrated sway bar links and coilover mounts. Strengthened upper A arms are additionally provided, and together Pure Performance claims that the kit offers the strongest A arm replacements available for the Tundra – a claim that comes packaged with a lifetime guarantee. Rounding out the 4.5” Triple Threat System are extended stainless steel brake lines, billet steel steering extensions, poly foam bump stops and Pure Performance 2.625” Prodigy coilovers.
Out back, Pure Performance provides long travel rear shackles and a Deaver mini spring pack, as well as one poly foam bump stop per side. The mini spring pack in particular is a nice alternative to a block lift and a compromise over a full leaf spring pack that could reduce hauling performance.
Benefits of the Triple Threat System
Altogether, the kit allows for up to 5.5-inches of ride height boost (and a minimum increase of 3.5-inches) and up to 16-inches of front wheel travel with the sway bar removed (14-inches with the sway bar in place). If desired, the Triple Threat System can also accommodate tires as large as 37-inches (with a few modifications made to the Tundra’s body mounts and inner fenders), and it doesn’t interfere with factory ESP or Traction Control on 2008 and up models (the kit will fit on all 2007+ Tundras).
Additional Points to Consider
The 4.5” Triple Threat System is definitely appealing to hardcore off-road warriors. There are a few caveats to keep in mind when investigating this suspension kit, however. One is that Pure Performance requires four-wheel drive Tundras to install extended C.V. shafts along with the kit, which can add as much as $1,000 to the total parts cost. Considering that the kit itself already retails for $3,699, this could be a bit hard to swallow for more budget-conscious owners. The company also recommends that Triple Threat System users upgrade to high performance shocks all around in order to get the most out of the package – an additional cost to consider.
Still, at the end of the day, this kit is a better off-road option than the more common drop-bracket type kits (like the Pro-Comp Stage 2 6″ Lift Kits) that are so common. The Pure Performance kit offers increased lift and increased suspension travel, and it should definitely be on your list if you’re serious about off-roading.

I was thrilled til I saw the cost. Guess it’s a true off-roader’s dream but way above my needs and budget. Even the PC Stage 2 is more than I wanted to invest. Great article and a nice option for someone considering a mild lift at 5″ or so.
