New Platinum Package for 2013 Tundra, But That’s About It

The big news coming out of Toyota for the 2013 Tundra is the addition of the Platinum trim package as a stand-alone option. Sadly, that’s about it on the 2013 model.

New Platinum Package for 2013 Tundra

This the interior of the platinum package for the 2013 Toyota Tundra. Looks nice right?

The new stand-alone trim level was part of the CrewMax Limited model. It will now be simply a  stand alone Platinum trim package.

The luxury package includes:

  • Heated and ventilated front bucket seats
  • Leather seating surfaces
  • Memory package (includes two-position driver’s seat, exterior mirrors and steering wheel position memory)
  • Auto-dimming power-folding outside mirrors with turn signal indicators
  • Navigation
  • Power tilt/slide moonroof
  • Woodgrain interior trim

Not a big surprise, Toyota has decided that the display navigation with Entune which was only available in CrewMax and Double Cab Tundra grade models late in the 2012 model year is now a regular option.

Also, customers will be able to get the Tundra TRD Rock Warrior Package on the Limited Grade models as well. This option had been only available on the Tundra Grade models.

There you go, really not any modifications beyond changing up some of the packages. Hopefully this means, Toyota is really busy working on a big upgrade, not worrying about the last model year of the old styling.

I wish Toyota would offer, for both new and used, a mechanical limited slip rear diff or an eLocker for the Tundra.

I see bigger rebates on 2013 model year tundras about 1,000 more dollars than in 2012 just to move them out to make way for the 2014 model year tundra due out next fall. I sure hope they do not screw it up and one thing is for sure, in order to compete with the Big 3, the new tundra will have to get better mpg since this is a hot topic right now and unfortunately even though the 5.7L tundra is the top or top 2 of the most powerful 1/2 ton truck engines, it does get the worst mpg by 2-3.

I like that pkg. Looks sharp. Just not crazy about the wood.
