Griot's Garage Car Wax and Polish Kit - An Overview

Griot's Garage Car Wax and Polish Kit can get your truck looking great right.

Who it’s For: Recommended by the manufacturer for beginners or professional detailers, most user reviews (see below) say that this is a good kit for anyone who wants to keep their truck clean ad polished. For those just beginning to take care and maintenance of their vehicle seriously, the kit comes with full instructions, a detailers’ handbook, and an instructional DVD. Fast and easy-to-use waxing is the added benefit of the kit.

Key Features:

  • Orbital polisher with seven amp, 850-watt motor for controlled power with low-end torque and six speed settings
  • Six-inch foam pads to prevent accidental burning of paint
  • Speed Shine, cleaning clay, polish and wax included for around $50 in savings compared to buying components separately

What Owners Say: Almost all of the reviews on AutoAnything.com gave the kit an overall five-star rating for appearance, ease of installation(use), price, and quality. One user stated “I had never used a machine polisher before…I was able to get started and see results right away.” Other reviewers complemented the detailers’ handbook as “comprehensive” and “very helpful.”

The wax and polish received pretty high marks too for shine and aiding in scratch removal. However, when the product was downgraded to a four-star rating, the reviewer did not think “they[wax and polish] are any better than a lot of other brands on the market.” This same reviewer did state that the buffer performed well by saving effort.

Who Makes It?: The Griot’s Garage Wax/Polish Kit is made by Griot’s Garage, a company started in Vista, California in 1988 that specializes in offering products, tools and accessories for car care and garage organization. Well…. When I was in the Navy stationed in Norfolk, Va I used to have a kit similar to that from Craftsman. I use two craftsman buffers. Yes to wax on and the other to wax off. I find liquid wax is easy to handle so I sue the one buffer strictly for that. Since liquid wax seeps into the rubber wheel and when you try to take wax off it seeps right back out causing more heartache. I do prefer the Brazilian Carnuba paste wax. Also the craftsman kit at that time came with a 5 gallon bucket.

Overall, I generally have been please with many of the products of Griots Garage. I am a repeat buyer of Speed Shine.

The results are always fine…but I find that it’s not really that quick with this stuff. Also, I tend to press the towel hard and rub my arm off in order to get this stuff to work.
