Toyota Kills TRD Supercharger Program
To the dismay of many Toyota Tundra fans, it was recently announced the TRD Supercharger program is no more. Toyota says it will sell off existing stock and when it is gone, it is gone.
TRD Supercharged Tundra Test Drive VIDEO
We visited Stevinson Toyota East last night in Aurora, CO (just outside Denver) and managed to test drive their Made In The USA Toyota Tundra. It’s a 2008 Tundra Regular Cab 2wd SR5 with the sport package, and the 5.7L V8 (of course). It also includes TundraRacing.com’s 2″ lowering kit, a complete set of carriage works grilles, a custom exhaust, and custom American flag vinyl work.
Stevinson Toyota East in Aurora, CO has created this Tundra to showcase their customization skills.

TRD 5.7 Tundra Supercharger Specs – 504 HP and 550 LB-FT Torque!
Toyota has officially listed the TRD Supercharger for the 5.7L Tundra in their “Parts Sales Guide.”
Here are the official specs: The 5.7 with the supercharger makes 504 HP and 550 lb-ft of torque. The list price for the entire kit is $5,875. Dealer cost is about $5,000 (but good luck buying one for that).
The total cost (including installation) is going to be around $6,800 – based on a labor rate of $105 an hour. If you’re trying to get a better price than MSRP, try negotiating off that installed price. Maybe the dealer will knock a little off since you’re doing the install with them.
Features:
- Unique design fully integrated into the engine with the latest generation Eaton® Twin Vortices System (TVS) roots-type rotor pack.
- The twin four-lobe rotors feature 160-degree twist improves air-handling, noise, and vibration characteristics

Toyota Tundra 5.7L TRD Supercharger
The 5.7L Toyota Tundra TRD Superchager will be available soon!
Maybe.
As I’m sure you’ve all heard by now, the TRD Supercharger has been given a part number in the latest Toyota Accessory Guide (part # PTR29-34070), but that’s no indication that the supercharger will be available soon.
However, I spoke to a friend of mine that works in a local Toyota dealer’s parts department, and he was estimating he’ll be able to order in a month or two. That would mesh with Toyota’s stated time line (see the picture below), but that’s not really any indication either.
My guess is that the Tundra 5.7L TRD Supercharger will delayed — it’s pretty common for these things to be held back by either the EPA, CARB, or the internal bureaucracy of Toyota. Take, for instance, the debut of the supercharger for the Scion tC. It was supposed to be out in the fall following the car’s debut (it also had a part number in the catalog), but EPA and CARB regulators held back the release more than 6 months. Same story with the Tacoma supercharger back in the day (and the one that’s supposed to be coming out).
But, it’s cool to imagine getting our hands on one…
