I have nothing against military personnel or college grad extra rebates, etc., etc., but it seems mfgs. are trying to be one-sided and favor select organizations. 500 rebate with 1.9% financing is not that big of deal at all since toyota already offers 400 rebate with 0% financing up to 60 months. So, will these select group of people ONLY get 500 rebate and not the extra 400 rebate since the APR is 1.9 vs. 0.0%? What little savings the extra 100 buck savings is will be eaten up easily at the 1.9% APR vs. 0.00%. When the govt. offered cash for clunkers, that was the biggest disaster in terms of organization GM offered ever in their recent bankrupt history. I had an eligible vehicle that qualified but the loopholes were terrible even the dealers could not help me and said to call 1-800 number which you never got thru and once I did after several hours of calling, that someone took all my info. down and told me he would call me back with an answer to see if I qualified and he never did even after I tried calling him directly back to his direct line.

Mickey – Interesting idea. I’ve never seen that incentive ran before, but it’s a good idea. Especially during a Veteran’s Day or 4th of July sale.

You should work in marketing! 🙂

mk – I hear you, but I think the market is headed in this direction more and more. Instead of banging away at the general public, we’ll see companies use targeted offers to generate sales.

Still, it’s frustrating when you’re a regular old Joe and you can’t get a special rebate because you’re not military, a recent college grad, a lease returnee, etc.
