Toyota has recently announced its plans to invest $150 million at their Tijuana, Mexico facility to expand production of their top mid-size truck, the Toyota Tacoma. This investment should relieve some of the capacity strain.
Seeing a jump in truck sales and changes in consumer demand, Toyota plans to expand truck production in 2016 to keep up according to Toyota’s North America CEO Jim Lentz.
Sources say Toyota is currently looking at locations in Mexico to build a new plant. While there is no confirmation on what they will build there, we are speculating it will be a new truck plant. This could be great news for the Tundra.
