Imagine driving this truck around in the 1950s? You can own it thanks to Clint Bowyer.

The 1950s-style work truck was designed by Bowyer and his crew with help from Toyota Motor Sales USA as part of the Sherwin-Williams Planet Color (R) All-Star Charity Challenge. The custom truck features:

  • Red patina paint job – giving it the appearance of a “tri-five” style work truck
  • Roof visor
  • Custom wheels
  • Louvered tailgate
  • Vertical bar grille
  • White bumpers, mirrors and grille
  • Wood bed and wood bed stakes
  • Blanket upholstered seats
  • Custom exhaust
  • Upgraded suspension components

According to a press release:

The Sherwin-Williams Planet Color(R) All-Star Charity Challenge pits the truck design talents of Clint Bowyer against fellow NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, as each of the drivers’ design teams turn back the hands of time on a 2011 Toyota Tundra to appear as if it was manufactured during the 1950s. Barrett-Jackson Auction Company’s 2012 Orange County, Calif., and Las Vegas bidders will determine each vehicle’s worth with all proceeds going to the drivers’ charities of choice, including Bowyer’s Emporia Community Foundation.

The Emporia Community Foundation works in the Kansas counties of Lyon, Chase, Greenwood, Morris, Osage, Coffey and Wabaunsee. Bowyer says that this area has been “rattled with floods, tornadoes, drought and high unemployment from factories and farms shutting down. And now, it’s time to give back to a community who raised me and what better way to do that than combine two of my greatest passions, cars and charity.”

While we often feature off-road, custom Toyota Tundra trucks, this is a cool interpretation of what a 1950s era Tundra would look like. And top that off with the fact it is going to be auctioned off for charity, we give it two big thumbs up.

How about you? Love it or hate it?

I’m sure some will see this as a “joke” but I say hats off to this guy and what he’s doing. Except for the wheels I think it actually looks pretty cool. BTW, how do you know it’s a V-6?????

Hopefully he get’s enough for the charity he picked out.

I agree the V6 is a bit of a disappointment, but to me the whole thing is kind of odd. A new import done up to look like an old domestic? Doesn’t make sense (at least not to me).

    Still, custom is cool.
