Mythbusters Equips Truck with Square Wheels?

In a sign that Mythbusters may have run out of things to “bust,” the show recently decided to build square wheels, retrofit a Ford truck and take it for a test drive. Why? Any reasonable person make ask, for entertainment it seems. Even though the premise of driving on square tires seems silly at best, it is pretty interesting how the show goes about developing them.
While the full show video is not released yet, here are some clips that pretty much give you the general idea on how it came out.

Things are a little slow there. It will work but how much damage to the truck and your ride is gone.
Just saying “square wheel” is incorrect. It’s like saying “round chock”. Anyone with common sense wouldn’t use a round object to chock a trailer and that person would also not use a square tire.
One big issue with the test as done on mythbusters is that they are using solid wheels.
Even using round wheels, if you put rubber directly on iron, you end up with one heck of a rough ride. That air does act as a cushion, probably more than it seems sometimes.
The test done with square, rubber coated wheels was destined to fail simply for that reason.
