Why does it have Rock Warrior wheels?
I’m checking with Toyota to figure out why. I had a fellow media friend who had this truck a few weeks ago and the wheels were different than this one. His wheels were the ones from the initial press release. Thanks for pointing this out. Frankly, it hadn’t even occurred to me.

For some reason the Prototypes that are in the Press Fleet have the TRD Rock Warrior wheels and tires…….. not sure why but some of them have them.
Hemi,
A fellow journalist had this a while ago and the wheels were different. It isn’t the same truck, but the same configuration and color. I’m working to find out why.

The earlier prototypes I always saw the 17 RW wheels. I think they just made their way to the press fleet somehow. it should only be because it was a pre production model…… Interesting though because the truck will handle differently as those tires are Super Heavy since they are Load E Range tires with a 3200lb load rating at 80 PSI. they are 10 ply tires that weigh 20 something pounds more EACH than the Michelins.
I’ll be interested as the answer you get from them about it to see if it matches what I presume to have happened.
not having black wheels takes away from the look of the truck, that’s for sure
The truck will handle differently with the 17s on it instead of the 18s. This will be noticeable on road and off.
That’s funny. The wheels are my favorite part. I like those rims. I don’t care for the orange color.
I saw the wheel change, from 18″ to 17″ a few weeks ago.
I have no idea if this is a running line change for all future Pro Tundra’s or not?
Tim let us know what you find out. I think the 18″ is the standard; but 17″ could be an option?
