Clever Modification – Tundra With A Sequoia Front End

Everyone knows that the 2007+ Tundra and 2008+ Sequoia are both based on the same basic platform. Same engine and transmission options, essentially the same suspension and frame (with some minor but important differences), same interiors (at least from the 2nd row forward), etc. Automakers strive to share parts between vehicles because it keeps costs down with larger economies of scale, and quality is often improved on shared parts because automakers can afford to invest in more engineering and R&D on a part that’s shared by multiple vehicles. But who cares, right? “Show us the featured truck already!”
Since so many parts are shared between the Tundra and Sequoia, it’s fun to mix and match. Everyone has probably seen a Tundra with Sequoia door handles, and some people have modified a chrome Sequoia grill to fit onto their Tundra, but how many people have seen this?
A Tundra with a Sequoia front bumper.
Take a look at the side-by-side to get a sense of how different the truck looks with the Sequoia bumper:
Check out the subtle differences between the blue Tundra with the Sequoia front bumper and the white Tundra with the stock front bumper below:
- The shape of the fog light housings.
- There’s no “crease” below the grille on the Sequoia bumper.
- The very slick looking lower grille on the Sequoia bumper versus the much more utilitarian lower grille on the Tundra.
- The Sequoia bumper doesn’t seem to “stick out” as much as the Tundra’s bumper.
One of the guys that works at Tundra Racing did this mod – he decided to trim the stock Tundra grille to fit with the Sequoia front bumper rather than use the Sequoia’s chrome grille. It works – looks sharp for sure.
We like it the ingenuity, and we like the fact that this mod doesn’t rely upon after-market body parts. Good work!

Good mod. Looks sharp indeed. Now I wonder who would want to trade their sequioa lower valance for my Tundra lower valance….
I like it too and think some fogs would go great to set it off.
I would love to do this to my truck. I may have to start searching for a Sequoia
bumper as the one on my Tundra lacks the visual “pop” that the Sequoia has.
Might want to edit this post 2007 Seq used the old body style. 2008 was the year of the new body style seq..
I wanna see if somebody will put a Sequoia rear suspension on the Tundra. that’ll be the ultimate. Not all Tundras are used as trucks. 🙂
Looks great. Just need to add those fog lights to make it perfect.
Erik – Thanks man – it’s fixed.
does this guy happen to live in panama city florida….cuz I def saw this exact truck.
what wheels are these?
I like toyota but i dont think i like the the change betwine the two cars I think it looks better the origional way
Patrick – Yes I’m pretty sure that’s where this truck lives – it’s owned by one of the guys at Tundra Racing in Florida.
PKC – I don’t know but I’ll check.
PKC – Those are Moda wheels from the TireRack.com.
so i bought a $165 2008 sequoia bumper off ebay, took it to my body guy and found out that it would cost over $1000 in plastic clips, renforsment shit, and other plastic stuff, that my Tundra with a real bumper (made of steal) does not have.. so its not worth it people.
[…] has already done the bumper, he modded his grill to work instead of using the sequoia grill. Clever Modification – Tundra With A Sequoia Front End | Tundra Headquarters __________________ 2010 Double Cab 4×4 4.6L 4.10's 6.5' Bed Pyrite Mica (8/22/09) DONE: Back […]
I’d rather go the other way. A Seqouia with Tundra chrome bumper mod.
429 – Send us pics man! I’d love to help you show it off.
will the sequoia grille bolt to the tundra hood?
[…] link is for the bumper, but there is a link to a thread for the grille on this page: Clever Modification – Tundra With A Sequoia Front End | Tundra Headquarters __________________ 2010 Silver Sky CrewMax […]
would the tundra grill fit on the sequoia?
Sanz,
Not really sure. Good question though. They are really similar and I could see it working. Probably better off asking an after-market grille maker. Once you get an answer, let us know!
