Toyota brought a couple of Tundras to the 2010 Detroit International auto show this year – a stock 4.6L DoubleCab and the Brooks & Dunn Tailgater concept created for the 2009 SEMA show.
It’s noteworthy that Toyota featured a bone-stock 4.6L Tundra at this show – alongside the new Prius/Scion FT-CH concept (seen below), it certainly seems like Toyota is trying to send the message that they’ve

Come on toyota, at least put the decent rims on the stock tundra like on the TRD pkg. I can live with those stock rims since same as mine, but I think toyota can afford to put on a slightly more upscale tire rim so the consumers would see it being slightly sharper – agree?
Agree, It looks like they pulled up at the show and went “OH CRAP, We forgot one of the cars. Lets run down to the local dealership and grab something, Anything”.
You guys had the same thought as I did with those plain steel wheels…cmon Toyota! As a matter of fact, they can stop producing them. I have an extra set I’m willing to trade back in.
That was my reaction too, but I’ve been so harsh in criticizing the SEMA trucks that I decided to bite my tongue. Perhaps they’re trying to showcase the low-cost, high efficiency aspects of the model? Not sure, but good comments from all.
Rims, that’s the big stink? You know that’s why their are different trims and packages, right. They are the base rims for the base price. But you know fleet owners really want flashy, costly rims on their vehicles. Want some cheese with that whine?
Yes please, I’ll save you the limburger cheese since you are stinking up the joint.
Auto shows are the place for glitz and glam. I have the Steelies on my truck. They are the best looking steel rims I have ever seen but they are one notch above the base rims. They should have had a set of TRD 22’s or a one off concept set on the truck. This was like going into a jewelry store and all the diamond rings are in beautiful display boxes save for one which in sitting in a bubblegum machine dispensor capsule. Everyone is agast at the epic mis step or epic laziness of this.
Yeah I have a set of those wheels sitting in my shop that I would give to someone if they wanted them.
Right anonymous, the world needs ditch diggers grab yourself a shovel.
Stop. The insults are not needed. Anon made a valid point. Everyone doesnt care about flashy rims. I made a counter point that people going to autoshows do care about flashy rims.
Touche! Well put, J.D.
Mk a stock truck wouldn’t be a stock truck with an upgrade in rims. What Toyota did was bring you both sides of the spectrum. One trick out Tundra and a bone stock one. The idea is to show you the minimum to the maximum. J.D. I would care about what anonymous wrote but I won’t. Just like he stated he owned a 09 Rock Warrior just to make fun of Tundra owners. So I won’t cut him no slack period.
Sorry, but I would not pay good money to go see a plain jane stock tundra. What a waste of space. Anyone can just go to a dealer to see a boring stock tundra. You really think the base msrp pricing will get a customer to go see a dealer for a Tundra?
NO, MK. Mickey get over it! The whole rock warrior whiners comment was funny but apparently it applied to you since your hung up on it. I apologize, there is that all better!
Why yes it is all better since you agreed with me for a change without being a smart _ss. I don’t mind people disagreeing with others opinions, but to be smartty pants about it is another thing.
